Announcements
Week of 10/24 - 10/28
This week we will finish up the lessons on determining the rate of change and the y-intecept (Lessons 3.5 and 3.6). A Chapter 3 Test will be given on Friday, 10/28.
Linear Equation Project Due Date
Your Linear Equation Project (Stained Glass Window) is due this Friday, 10/28.
Week of 10/17 - 10/21
This week we will be finishing our lesson on finding the y-intercept form a graph, table, and equation and context.
Week of 10/10 - 10/14
Common Assessment #2 on Thursday, 10/13. This test will be on determining whether relations (graphs, ordered pairs, and tables) are functions, and also on the rate of change from a graph, equation and a table.

On Monday we will finish ST 3.4 and practice graphing equations in slope-intercept form. We will review the for the common assessment on Wednesday.
Week of 10/3 - 10/7
This week we will be continuing our unit on rate of change (slope) from a table of values, from context, and from an equation - ST 3.2 - 3.4

Next Thursday, 10/13 - Common Assessment #2
Week of 9/26 - 9/30
This week we will be finishing Lessons ST 2.6, comparing two models and their point of intersection, and 2.7 - Graphing non-linear functions. We will then cover Chapters 3.1 and 3.2 to end the week - Determining the rate of change from a graph and a table.
Week of 9/12 - 9/16
This week we will finish up the section on functions (ST 2.3) and look at relations in terms of how ordered pairs, tables and graphs are related (ST 2.4 - 2.6)
Week of 9/6 - 9/9
Tuesday, 9/6 - Quiz 2: Characteristics of Graphs
Friday, 9/7 - Common Assessment #1

This week we will finish up ST 2.2 - Characteristics of Graphs and will begin section 2.3 - Defining and recognizing functions.

Week of 8/29 - 9/2
On Monday we will have a Chapter 1 Test - Solving Equations, Types of Solutions and Writing Equations. The rest of the week we will be looking at Chapter 2.1 - 2.3: Developing Sequences of Numbers from Diagrams and Contexts; Describing Characteristics of Graphs; and Defining and Recognizing Functions.
Week of 8/22 - 8/26
Open House is this Thursday, 8/25. I look forward to meeting the parents!

This week we will continue to focus on the 3 different solution types - one, infinite, and zero. They will have to distinguish whether these equation are inconsistent, consistent or an identity and will have to determine whether their graphs are parallel, intersecting or coinciding.
Week of 8/15 - 8/19
This week we will focus on solving multi-step equations containing distributive property, combining like terms, and variable terms on both sides of the equal sign. This will lead us into the 3 different types of solutions.
Week of 8/10 - 8/12
Welcome back to a new year and 8th grade Math! I look forward to working with both parents and students so we can have a successful year. Please know that I am always available to speak with you so if you have any questions or concerns, give me a call or email me.
